ALSTONVILLE showground will play host to extreme acrobatics and stunt performers from around the world when the Great Moscow Circus returns to the region with its new show.

The showground will host the circus with a string of shows scheduled between November 21-30.

Circus manager Mark Edgley said the show features acts from Armenia, Ukraine, Brazil, Columbia, Greece, New Zealand and Australia.

His company and the Weber Circus family have been running the show under the Australian banner for almost 25 years.

The circus first came to the country in 1965 and has been one of the longest-running forms of family entertainment around the world.

“This time we’re bringing a brand-new show that has plenty of excitement and thrills,” Mr Edgley said.

“It’s the first time in about eight years that we’ve done a tour like this in the Northern Rivers region and we’re really looking forward to it.

“The Alstonville showground is a great facility; you won’t get too many other venues in the region that can accommodate everything we do.

“The team will be going all out for our final tour of the year and we might even add a few extra shows, depending on ticket sales.”

The show features BMX and pro scooter riders, a multi-motorcycle cage riding act and eye-catching pole act.

Some of the motorbike riders are as young as 11 and perform in circus acts across the country.

“Our Armenian clown has been revered as the funniest in the world, leaving audiences roaring with laughter,” Mr Edgley said.

“The Wheel of Death and electrifying high tricks on the trampoline heighten the extreme theme.”
