EMERGING artists from Byron Community College have showcased their work at an end-of-year exhibition celebrating students in the Certificate III in Visual Arts course.

The exhibition featured pieces created during the eight-month program, which began in May and brought together 22 students aged 16 to 77.

Students worked across ceramics, textiles, printmaking, drawing, painting and sculpture.

The show at the Laneway Studio presented a mix of ceramics, mixed-media works, prints, drawings and sculptural pieces.

Course trainer Virginia Reid said the exhibition marked an important moment for the group.

“Watching these students evolve, experiment and push themselves creatively has been a privilege. Their dedication and courage to try new mediums really shows in this exhibition.”

Student Caroline Price said the course was transformative.

“I hadn’t picked up a paintbrush in years, and now I’ve created work I’m genuinely proud of. The support from the trainers and other students made all the difference, it felt like being part of a real artistic community.”

Byron Community College CEO Anne Stovin said the range of work reflected the strength of community education.

“This group represents the heart of community education, people of all ages coming together to learn, grow and express themselves. Their work is truly inspiring.”

The Certificate III in Visual Arts offers a foundation for further study, creative careers or personal practice.
