BALLINA Jockey Club will wrap up its summer racing season on Friday, February 27, following a strong run of meetings and new investment in the track’s training facilities.

Racing NSW funding has delivered a new irrigation and drainage system, designed to improve track conditions and provide more consistent training year round.

“Once irrigation’s working, that’s going to provide consistent training, day in, day out,” Ballina Jockey Club general manager Matthew Bertram said.

Racing NSW has also purchased a large equine property on Racecourse Road, strengthening the precinct’s long term potential.

The club is coming off its busiest period of the year, with strong crowds at the Boxing Day and Ballina Cup meetings.

Local trainers have also enjoyed a successful summer, led by Stephen and Jordan Lee, who recently recorded a metropolitan double in Brisbane.

Tickets for the final summer meeting are available at ballinajockeyclub.com.au.
