Pollyman coming to Torquay

December 12, 2018 BY

Pollyman is coming to “Christmas in the parking lot”.

George Wilson has been releasing music under ‘Pollyman’ for over four years now.

I remember listening to him singing, gobsmacked behind the counter at the old Waves Music Co.

It’s like sitting next to the actual Tim Buckley, pure tone… Father John Misty for you hipster types, but nowhere near enough vibrato steez.

Lately, Pollyman has been appearing as a Duo with Fenn Wilson, George’s brother on Drums. They have been generating a bit of buzz after appearances of Queenscliff Music Festival and supporting Steve Lucas at the recently revamped Esplanade Hotel in St. Kilda.

I managed to catch some live footage of Pollyman playing at QMF, I booked them for a local music event I was running straight away.

They’re live front is full of energy and conviction, it zaps you. Perhaps the current and future Pollyman material will sit comfortably hidden away on a Soundcloud account for eternity. George is just that kind of guy.

As long as there’s a TASCAM around to hit record and capture the mountains of material he creates, who needs national radio stations or tastemakers to misconstrue.

Mark my words though, Pollyman is one of those acts that has enough grip to steer the mainstream, take it by the reigns. Whether that eventuates or not depends on a number of factors.

You can catch Pollyman Live at Surf City, Torquay this Sunday December 16 at “Christmas in the parking lot”.
