A highlight of the Bellarine Arts Trail, internationally recognised artist Alison Fincher will again open her studio to the public.

Based in Barwon Heads, Fincher creates paintings that are a celebration of art and nature, with the Bellarine Peninsula serving as a key source of inspiration for much of her work.

Encompassing water, land, people and life, her diverse subject matter captures the essence of the region’s beauty.

Next month, Fincher’s studio will be open for four days, including the Bellarine Arts Trail dates of November 4-5 and the following two days of November 6-7.

Barwon Heads artist Alison Fincher primarily uses watercolour and acrylics to create her nature-inspired works.

Fincher’s work primarily features watercolours and acrylics, with watercolour techniques applied to both mediums.

“This allows me to capture the unplanned, impromptu effects that characterise the watercolour style,” she said.

“I sometimes use watercolours and acrylics together, developing unstructured, layered washes on larger canvases that reflect my loose watercolour paintings on paper.”

Watercolours in a variety of sizes, both framed and unframed, as well as larger “wateracrylics” on canvas will be on display and available for purchase from the studio.

Fincher’s range of art cards will also be available.

Through 2023, Fincher’s work has been displayed both nationally and internationally.

“My painting ‘Beach Path’ was exhibited at the annual international watercolour exhiition ‘FabrianolnAcquarello 2023’ in Italy, along with works from 80 different countries,” she said.

Her painting “Low Tide” has also been recognised at a major national, bi-annual watercolour event

“‘Low Tide’ was awarded one of a small group of selected ‘Best in Muster’ works at the Australian Watercolour Muster 2023,” she said.

One of Fincher’s paintings has also been included in the Bellarine Arts Trail’s Taste of the Trail exhibition at the Arts Hub on Clifford Parade in Barwon Heads.

The Taste of the Trail exhibition is now open to the public and will run until November 7.
