City’s school holiday program has something for everyone

Pinocchio will be staged at the Potato Shed across various times from January 14-17.

The City of Greater Geelong is offering a raft of free and paid activities throughout the summer school holidays.

Libraries across the region are locked in to host a range of holiday programs for young people up to 25 years.

Activities include DIY Ukuleles at Waurn Ponds Library, Harry Potter polymer charm crafts, virtual reality, 3D printing, games on the big screen, 3D modelling, movie screenings at the Leopold Hub and a millennials’ book chat.

Other activities taking place across the city include:
– Green Spine explorers: discover friendly faces on the trees of Malop Street’s Green Spine with a self-lead adventure
– Giant Sky Wheel: take a ride on the Southern Hemisphere’s largest travelling Ferris Wheel
– The National Wool Museum’s interactive story-time Where is the Green Sheep? is brought to life with songs, games and crafts. Suitable for children 2-5 years old. Maximum 10 per session, book via eventbrite.com.au Every Thursday between January 9-23.
– The NWM is hosting a youth photography workshop on creating photo essays with Doug Gimesy, open to 15-18 year olds and will be held today (January 2). For more information head to geelongaustralia.com.au/nwm.
– School holiday activities are on at Splashdown this summer. Splashdown is hosting a diving workshop on January 13 (12-1pm), and a safety workshop on January 20 (12-1pm). On Saturday, January 11 enjoy a screening of Small Foot at Splashdown. Bring your own chair or beanbag, includes popcorn and icy poles.
– The Potato Shed is on the lookout for young musicians keen to learn new skills from experienced industry professionals. The Blues Bootcamp runs January 7-9. Register via bluesbootcamp.com.au. Tickets to the Potato Shed’s Pinocchio are also on sale online, by credit card over the phone or at any of the city’s customer service centres.
