COAST UNVEILS ARTISTIC TREASURES
The Surf Coast’s artistic community welcomed crowds into their studios across the coast to the hinterlands as part of this year’s Surf Coast Arts Trail.
More than 65 venues participated in the arts trail over the August 11-12 weekend, with a myriad of works from all media on display, live demonstrations and pieces from various artists up for sale.
The event, which celebrates the diversity and rich talent of the region’s artistic people, draws large crowds guided by a trail map, which allows them to interact directly with artists. From painting and print workshops, to intricate sculptures, there was something on offer for everyone.
Surf Coast Shire Mayor David Bell said the seventh Surf Coast Arts Trail showcased a record number of venues and was an outstanding success.
“Despite the cold weather people turned out in great numbers, and artists were delighted to meet them, and discuss their work. We’ve had many great compliments from patrons about loving the opportunity to meet artists in their studios, and the warmth of welcomes they received.
Congratulations to all who participated and particularly to the central organiser, Council’s Arts Development Officer Julie Dyer.”
