FAMILIES GET ACTIVE IN ANGLESEA

April 11, 2019 BY

Families embarked on a bushwalk on Saturday in Anglesea as part of the Premier’s Active April initiative, which aims to get Victorians more active, more often.

As part of the Premier’s Active April campaign, Bushwalking Victoria hosted a family bushwalk at Coogoorah Park, Anglesea on Saturday April 6.
The event was fully booked, with 75 adults and children choosing to get off the couch and participate. There were three walks on offer (1km, 4.6km and 9.2km) to cater to different ages and abilities.

Walk leaders and co-leaders from the Geelong Bushwalking Club, Escaping Your Comfort Zone and the Anglesea YMCA Kids “Go Bush” team guided families through all three bushwalks.

Two children from each walk were awarded with different prizes for finding the longest leaf along the journey, remembering names in their group and identifying three different ways the walking track was marked.

Each winner scored a water bottle from the Wilderness Shop and a $20 gift voucher from Anaconda, Geelong.

There was also a lucky draw which saw the winning family take home a hiking backpack filled with goods from Bushwalking Victoria.
