Geelong Jazz Soirees Summer Series returns to Geelong Botanic Gardens this Saturday

MUSIC fans are invited to pack a picnic and wine and listen to performances by the region’s finest jazz acts in a spectacular outdoor setting at Geelong Botanic Gardens this Saturday (February 04).

The Geelong Jazz Soirees Summer Series is back for a third year, offering three outdoor music sessions including February 18 and 25.

Organisers hope to build on the success of the 2022 series, which saw more 1,600 patrons from across Victoria attend the jazz series.

“We are thrilled with the support we’ve received from the wider Geelong community,” organiser Callum Watson said.

Acclaimed vocalist and guitarist Wayne Jury will perform alongside his jazz band to crowds this Saturday.

 

“It’s going to be another fantastic series of shows with a range of great music.”

This Saturday will feature acclaimed vocalist and guitarist Wayne Jury performing alongside his jazz band.

Wayne will be performing an entertaining selection of popular jazz and blues standards from the American songbook including a number of Sinatra favourites.

“The surroundings are beautiful and I have the opportunity to make music with great musicians,” Mr Jury said.

“I also get to share the music, and hopefully bring some joy to the people listening. Double happy.”

February 18, will feature the Des Camm Jazz Band.

Camm is a long-time favourite amongst local fans having led New Orleans-style jazz bands since 1965. The lineup for this show includes Camm on trumpet,

Lindsay Flint on clarinet and saxophone, Robert Wood on drums, John Cox on banjo, Felix Blatt on piano and Simon Van Cam on Bass.

Another local favourite – Soul Sister Swing – will close the series on February 25.

The group features three terrific singers performing a variety of music from Motown to Big Band Hits.
