Yoga enthusiasts are invited to deepen their practice by taking the first steps towards becoming a professional instructor with Sally Louise Yoga next month.

Sally, who relocated her studio from Gilbert Street to picturesque bushland in Bellbrae about four years ago, is now accepting students for this year’s course.

Commencing in March, the 2020 edition features four intensive weekend workshops and a weekly face-to-face or online tutorial up until December.

It also includes complimentary access to all online resources and classes, with ongoing support (either online or face to face) available throughout its duration.

Sally said during her 13 years of teaching, she’s realised the importance of passing onto others how they can stay safe in the practice and use it in their lifelong health regime.

“Some people want to become teachers and others simply want to expand and deepen their practice.

“This course provides both of those options and the students have found it to be very rewarding.”

She said while there were many courses to choose from, hers focused on connecting with the body.

“It’s all about listening to your body and doing what it requires on the day. We’re able to modify poses and the practice so it suits the individual.

“It’s very easy to get injured in yoga, especially after completing a short course. Through my 10-month course, I offer a thorough teaching on the different aspects of yoga.

“What I love about offering the course online is that I can reach people, particularly those in remote areas.”

Sally said 90 per cent of the teachers she has trained are now running their own yoga classes and some have even opened their own studio.

She also said she capped her classes at 20 people to maintain a low student-teacher ratio.

Sally is offering Surf Coast yogis an early bird discount if they mention this article upon applying.

“I price my course so it’s affordable as I believe everyone deserves a thorough yoga education.

“I would just love to see safe, integrous and traditional yoga continue to grow on the Surf Coast and beyond.”
