A NEW hair rejuvenation technique has arrived on the Bellarine, and it is ready to take the region by storm.

New and innovative Portarlington business Coastline SMP specialises in skin micropigmentation, an exciting fresh technique catered to those seeking different methods of treating baldness and hair thinning.

The road to opening Coastline SMP was certainly not a smooth one for business owners Pedro and Kasia Lopez due to COVID-induced delays, but the pair are ready to put on smiles and bring confidence back into the lives of countless potential customers.

Coastline SMP is now the only studio on the Bellarine and Geelong that is dedicated to skin micropigmentation, a non-invasive and relatively inexpensive treatment that in many cases can take years off your appearance.

“People may be intimidated by the idea of having their scalp tattooed at first but once you realise how lifechanging it can be, you will never look back,” Kasia said.

“By opening a local studio, we are looking to make SMP an accessible hair loss solution to everyone in the Bellarine and Geelong regions.”

Having gained traction as a regrowth technique in the United States and Europe over the last few years, Australia has only just started jumping on the trend and awareness of skin micropigmentation is brewing.

The technique uses a microneedle, pigment, and pointillism technique to create the illusion of tiny hair follicles. The effect results in camouflage of thinning hair, coverage of bald spots and complete reconstruction of a hairline.

This is a welcome development by anyone who may be struggling with self-confidence because of alopecia, baldness, hormonal hair loss, or a receding hairline.

For Pedro, he suffered from alopecia areata, a condition of hair loss from his mid-twenties, before undergoing skin micropigmentation himself right before he and his wife’s wedding.

Pedro describes the treatment as a major turning point in his life.

“I got my SMP done just before our wedding which literally changed my life overnight,” Pedro said.

“My confidence was restored and the pressure of hiding my bald spots in front of photographers disappeared.”

Now, Pedro prides himself on changing lives through this form of treatment as it once did for him.

The colour of the micropigmentation matches to the colour of existing hair and provides fantastic results.

Results can also be achieved to cover scars resulting from surgeries, hair restoration or previous head trauma.
