Osteopathy is a great starting point

September 19, 2018 BY

The beauty of osteopathy is that it can assess and treat so many conditions using light touch, which is perfect for children, according to Quay Osteo Director Dr Laura Walsh.

As a parent, it can be hard to know when your kids need assessment and treatment.

If you reacted to every complaint, knock and bruise, you could be sitting in a waiting room three times a week!

But when things do go wrong, who should you turn to?

When it comes to musculoskeletal pain and injury, osteopathy is a great starting point. Osteopaths are trained to evaluate and diagnose injury, including referring for scans if need be, and then provide handson treatment to get the body moving well and feeling strong.

“The beauty of osteopathy is that we can assess and treat so many conditions using light touch, which is perfect for children, because pain can be scary for them,” Quay Osteo Director Dr Laura Walsh said.

Dr Walsh believes that trust plays the biggest part when working with children of all ages. “You can’t fool kids, they know when you’re genuine.” Similarly, she understands that for parents it’s a big deal in choosing a health professional to care for and guide their children.

The exceptional team of osteopaths at Quay Osteo all work regularly with children, from babies through to teens. They each bring their unique experiences of sport, injuries and parenting to their work, in addition to their detailed musculoskeletal knowledge and clinical background.

Quay Osteo makes a strong focus on patient education, with posture, stress management, footwear, screen time and desk set up all featuring heavily with teenagers to help them combat the headaches and back pain which can be triggered by study.
