Pop, rock, dance to take over Mt Duneed Estate
Geelong’s Mt Duneed Estate is gearing up for one of its biggest summers yet, as Roundhouse Entertainment launches the 24th edition of its A Day on the Green concert series.
The summer season will begin in January with an all-star line-up of big-name acts that includes pop four-piece The Script and legendary dance music pioneer Fatboy Slim.
Roundhouse Entertainment director Michael Newton said the line-up promised “something for everyone”.
“We couldn’t be more excited about this season’s line-up.
“Twenty-four seasons in, the entire team at A Day on the Green still loves presenting the world’s best artists at Australia’s most beautiful venues and we’re proud to consistently deliver a premium experience for our loyal patrons.
“And, of course, thanks to the continued support of our stakeholders and sponsors around the country who enable us to grow the brand to reach new audiences and remain viable in this tough, competitive market.”
Mr Newton said he was particularly excited to see five-time ARIA winners The Teskey Brothers start the summer concert series with their performance on January 11.
The rock duo will be joined by a line-up of international and Australian support acts, including American folk and roots artist Sierra Ferrell, Australian singer and multi-instrumentalist Charlie Needs Braces, Irish singer-songwriter CMAT, and American indie rockers Band of Horses who are returning to the country for the first time since 2016.
“I think there’s so much in that line-up,” Mr Newton said.
“We just put a CMAT show up at the Corner [Hotel in Richmond] and it sold-out in an hour, and then Sierra Ferrell was pretty much sold-out at The Forum. Band of Horses, it’s the only Vic show.
“It’s a super-interesting bill and just a whole day of really great music from the opener to the end.”
Texan singer-songwriter Leon Bridges will bring his new album Leon to Geelong on January 25, supported by Melbourne band Glass Beams and folk-pop act Maple Glider.
Pop sensation The Script will then take to the stage on February 1, before Fatboy Slim concludes the series on March 22 with an unforgettable dance party under the sun.
Mr Newton said the immersive experience offered by A Day on the Green continued to be a hit with music lovers across the region.
“You can just turn up, bring your own food, have a picnic and be with a big group of friends, enjoy some bevvies and just take in the atmosphere as well as the music.
“It’s a whole day out… and when you get a beautiful day, it really works.
“We’re proud to also play a vital role in boosting local tourism and providing significant economic benefits to local communities and charities.”
He encouraged anyone yet to attend one of the A Day on the Green concerts to come down and experience what has for many become a cherished tradition.
For a stress-free day, he recommended concertgoers make use of the return bus transfer options available from Geelong, Surf Coast, Colac, Laverton, Werribee and Melbourne’s CBD.
