Shakespeare in the Vines returns

January 16, 2020 BY

Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s most powerful and popular works.

One of the world’s most well-known tragedies is set to enthral audiences at Leura Park Estate this February when Essential Theatre presents two performances of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

A classic tale of power, superstition and madness, Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s most powerful and popular works.

Tempted by the prophecies of three mysterious witches and encouraged by his power-hungry wife, Macbeth’s ambition to be King of Scotland leads him into a nightmarish world of evil, deceit and murder.

Shakespeare’s rousing tragedy is filled with ferocious battles, supernatural horrors, stunning language and some of the Bard’s most vivid characters.

In a time where people are hooked on Game of Thrones and Black Mirror – where political ambition drives decisions at any cost – Essential Theatre takes it back to where it all began for its 18th year of performing.

Leura Park Estate has hosted sell-out “Shakespeare in the Vines” events annually since 2011. This year Leura Park will stage both performances within the barrel shed and winery enclave on February 14 and 15.

There will be a range of on-site food options on both nights, as well as wine, beer and cider which will be available before and after the performance.

The cast will mingle with the audience post-performance, with live music set to entertain once the curtain closes.

Tickets are $45 per person and only available at Geelong Arts Centre (50 Little Malop Street, Geelong). To secure yours, phone 1300 251 200 or book online at geelongartscentre.org.au.

Leura Park Estate is located at 1400 Portarlington Road, Curlewis. Gates open at 5pm, with the performance commencing at 7pm on both nights.
