Staying healthy, in mind and body

October 1, 2020 BY

Jean Hailes for Women’s Health is encouraging women to continue to take steps to improve their mental and physical health beyond Women’s Health Week.

Women’s Health Week is a campaign of events and online activities centered on improving women’s health and helping women make healthier choices.

Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, with City of Greater Geelong, G21 and Leisure Networks, wants women and girls to know that even though Women’s Health Week has ended, women can still actively work on improving health and wellbeing.

“Webinars and health content are still available for anyone wanting to learn more about, and take steps to gain and maintain, good physical and mental health,” City of Greater Geelong chief Martin Cutter said.

The group’s webinars – covering a range of topics from healthy eating to health checks – are available for viewing on Leisure Networks YouTube Channel.

The Women’s Health Week website is also still live and has a variety of articles, podcasts, videos, quizzes and more, covering a huge range of health matters for women and girls.

The City was a community partner for this year’s Women’s Health Week, supporting Jean Hailes for Women’s Health in providing preventative healthcare and promoting healthier lifestyles. Held annually in early September, the campaign is Australia’s biggest week of focusing on good health and wellbeing for women and girls.

This year, more than ever, it was a timely reminder for women to take positive and proactive steps towards being healthy, in mind and body.
“As COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease, we’re all starting to feel a little more at ease. Let’s use these positive feelings as motivation to do something good for your mind and body,” says Mr Cutter.

“It’s also important to remember your health checks and ensure that you’re up to date with tests and screenings; these can be confirmed with your local doctor.”
