A wave of music will roll into Torquay for the third season of The Drop Festival this April.

The festival – which will expand to six Australian locations next year – will once again follow the World Surf League Championship Tour and Qualifying Series events, while also making an additional stop at the Noosa Longboard Open for the first time in 2020.

The Drop Festival founders said they were thrilled to announce the “tremendous growth” of the festival, having grown from three events in 2018 to five events in 2019.

It was also revealed that the festival would be extending its reach offshore.

“We’re also very proud to announce that in 2020 The Drop Festival will follow the WSL to a variety of international locations to showcase the rest of the world how we Australians party down under – with The Drop Festivals scheduled to take place at sensational locations in New Zealand, Japan, Hawaii, Portugal, France and Brazil with more to be announced,” the founders said in a statement last week.

“The Drop Festival will now live under the parent brand The Drop Live, and with a complete rebrand we are preparing to launch our global website and app early in 2020.”

This year’s The Drop Festival saw some of Australia’s finest outfits head to Torquay to perform, including Angus and Julia Stone, Client Liaison, The Jungle Giants and Hockey Dad. The 2020 line-up will be announced soon.

The festival will visit Noosa, Newcastle, Manly and Coolangatta before dropping into Torquay on April 11.
