Torquay’s new vintage market

Recycling is the focus and trading vintage items, as well as a drop off point for unloved goods.

The crew that brought you the Mill Market, Powerhouse Geelong and Garage Geelong, have a new creative concept in town – Garage Torquay.

Garage Torquay is a vintage market specialising in surf goods and vintage fashion and collectables. It’s new to Torquay, although there is nothing new there. It is a sustainable business with all sale goods upcycled.

Recycling is the focus and trading vintage items, as well as a drop off point for unloved goods. Garage Torquay is not your average retail space

Garage Torquay was born from four generations of second-hand trading. A love of vintage from Ian’s grandfather, father, through to Ian’s son.
They share a passion for nurturing the planet and the ethics of recycling and rescuing unwanted treasures.

There are converted shipping containers, vintage cars and classic buses, which form the creative retail space. Ian Ballis, creator of Garage Geelong, and now the newly opened market, Garage Torquay, describes the business as a creative community hub that brings an immersive sense of place.

“People love visiting and hunting through all the goods and reminiscing about the past,” Ian says. “I love seeing the delight that the market brings. I feel inspired to offer Torquay a retail space with a point of difference to share our love of vintage with the community and bring awareness to sustainable business.

“Garage Torquay is a unique retail experience, away from mainstream consumerism. Come and explore our funky market and see what treasures you find. We hope you enjoy our upcycled world.”

Located in the factory outlet precinct in Baines Crescent, there are so many reasons to visit Garage Torquay. All your favourite brands and bargains are in the one spot and close to the beach.

Garage Torquay at 8 Baines Crescent, is open seven days a week from 10am-5pm, and will hold a launch party on January 29 with a barbecue and drinks, a silent raffle, and street art for children.
