AHEAD of the festive season, Amazon is looking for more people to help pick, pack and ship customer orders at its Australian sites, including Geelong.

Amazon Australia says the extra workers will help it meet customer demand during major shopping periods such as Black Friday and Prime Big Deal Days.

Starting today (Tuesday, September 9), about 600 jobs will be on offer, with no previous experience required, across the global e-commerce company’s Australian facilities in Geelong, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle, Gold Coast and Gosford.

For those who prefer a more flexible work arrangement, there will also be earning opportunities across the nation delivering packages with Amazon Flex.

“The holiday season is a special time of year, and we’re proud to be able to provide opportunities for so many individuals in our communities,” Amazon Australia operations HR director Jacqui Marker said.

“These seasonal roles can also be a stepping stone towards a long-term career at Amazon.

“Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided, and no previous experience or formal qualifications are required.

“These seasonal job opportunities are ideal for those seeking short term work, such as retirees wanting to stay engaged in work, students on their study breaks or individuals looking to re-enter the workforce and earn an extra income.

“We welcome anyone interested in a rewarding, temporary position within a safe, inclusive environment to apply, and the festive season promises to be an exciting time of year.”

Amazon opened its logistics site in Norlane, located in part of the former Ford factory, in September 2023.
