A GEELONG real estate agent has already racked up 50km in a charity running challenge fuelled by his colleagues’ AFL tipping mistakes.

Armstrong Real Estate land sales agent Victor Das is raising money for the Barwon Health Foundation by running 1km for every incorrect AFL prediction made around the office this season.

With 10 rounds still to play, the distance he will need to cover continues to grow.

The fundraiser grew out of Armstrong Real Estate’s weekly social media footy tipping segment, which has been running for the past five years.

“This year we wanted to take it a step further,” Das said.

“I like running, so we thought, why not make a real challenge of it and raise money for a good cause at the same time?”

Das plans to complete the challenge in a single event on 25 September, ahead of AFL grand final weekend, with his colleagues expected to join him for sections of the run.

The fundraiser will support the Barwon Women’s and Children’s Appeal through the Barwon Health Foundation, a cause Das said resonated with many people across the region.

“Everyone in Geelong is touched by Barwon Health at some point, whether it’s you, a family member or someone you care about,” he said.

“If our footy tipping fundraiser can help support people getting the best possible care, that’s worth running for.”

Armstrong Real Estate director Megan Rovers said the challenge reflected the company’s commitment to supporting the local community.

“Being genuinely connected to the community, not just doing business in it, is something Armstrong Real Estate has always stood for,” she said.

“We’re incredibly proud of what Victor is doing and we’ll be right there on the track cheering him on.”
