Applications invited for youth leadership camp

ROTARY have invited young people from across the Geelong region to sign up for a six-day leadership and personal development camp, which will be held in April.

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is for participants between the ages of 18 and 25 who are nominated and sponsored to attend by their local Rotary Club within Rotary District 9780, which covers south-west Victoria and part of South Australia.

This camp, overseen by co-directors and their team of past RYLA participants, covers topics such as leadership, motivation, goal setting, valuebased decision making, confidence, self-esteem, community contribution and resilience.

The program has run for many years and variations of it occur annually in Rotary Districts all
over the world.

In District 9780, the program is frequently described by past participants as “life-changing” and “way beyond expectations”.

Experience has also shown the development of strong, life-long friendships and networks among RYLA participants.

This year’s RYLA Camp will be held at Kangaroobie, near Princetown in the Otway Ranges, from April 13-18.

If you are interested in attending, contact your local Rotary Club or the RYLA secretary, who will put you in contact with a club.

If you are employed, Rotary encourages you to approach your employer and see if they will make the approach to the club on your behalf.

The nominating Rotary Club will pay the registration fee, which includes accommodation and all meals at the RYLA Camp.
