Art haven in Lorne

March 28, 2018 BY

Georgina Humphries’ award winning piece Tents.to. sea is currently on display as part of this year’s Lorne Sculpture Biennale (LSB). The LSB joins a busy art calendar for Lorne with the annual Lorne Lions Easter Art Show also running over the Easter weekend.

EASTER time at Lorne will be an art lover’s paradise with the Lorne Lions Easter Art Show and Lorne Sculpture Biennale (LSB).

The LSB, which features culinary events, performances and workshops, runs until April 2 and is set across the Lorne foreshore and surrounds, with free works by renowned international and local artists on display.

Take a stroll along the foreshore and marvel at the creativity of these unique sculptures then head down to the Lorne Senior Citizens Centre for the annual Lorne Lions Easter Art Show (LLEAS).

Now in its 46th year, the LLEAS is an iconic, popular event enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

It offers established and emerging artists exposure to a good audience whil providing them an opportunity to sell some of their pieces.

Winners for the following categories are judged; the best water colour, best oil, best acrylic, best pastel and the ever popular people’s choice award.

Last year’s show was a resounding success, with a large number of artists selling at least one work and this year there are over 200 paintings on display.

The public is welcome to attend the Gala Opening on Thursday March 29 (tonight) at 7.30pm.

Art Show Opening Times:
Easter Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10am-5pm
Easter Monday 10am-midday.
