A BLACK-tie event has raised vital funds for local food relief organisation Feed Me and its three outlets across the region, and organisers are thrilled with the result.
Under The Bay Lights took place at 360Q at Queenscliff Harbour last month.
FeedMe founder Lana Purcell said she was ecstatic the charity auction raised a remarkable $25,798.32 on the night, which would go a long way towards keeping Feed Me up and running.
“The response at our sold-out event helps our food relief program going for the community that needs support, it keeps our lights on, or fridges going, and pays for the petrol we need for our fleet of vehicles that deliver across the region,” she said.
360Q restaurateur Barry Iddles is a strong support of Feed Me’s work. He was not only part of the team that created the three-course dinner but also became one of the night’s auction items.
“He agreed to being auctioned off and host a four-course dinner with alcohol for 10 people,” Purcell said.
“The lucky bidder was Glenn Mills, a board member of Feed Me who, with nine guests, will sit down and appreciate Barry’s generosity.”
Founded by Purcell and Anthony Woodbury in 2019, Feed Me now has an army of volunteers, two chefs, and a fleet of vehicles that deliver much-needed food relief to a rising number of people doing it tough.
With outlets in Ocean Grove, Torquay and Geelong, Feed Me supports more than 1,500 families each week through deliveries and a further 300 people a day through its community food markets.
