Rotarians help out Feed Me Bellarine
COMMUNITY food sharing initiative Feed Me Bellarine has received a welcome helping hand from the Ocean Grove Rotary Club.
Last week, the club president Marion Walton and rotarian Gillian Morgan presented a $2,000 cheque to FMB co-founder Lana Purcell.
“As well as local Rotary funds, we were able to access monies from the Rotary District as part of a COVID-19 initiative and thereby double the donation,’’ Ms Walton said.
“The Rotary Club of Ocean Grove is pleased to help Feed Me Bellarine and hopes the donation will continue their good work addressing the needs and demands of organisations and individuals for help with food.’’
The motto of Feed Me Bellarine is “no questions, no agendas,’’ and its mission is to turn leftover food into delicious meals for people in need across the peninsula.
Hundreds of families rely on the service each week, which was the brainchild of local caterer Lana, and chef Anthony Woodbury.
The duo continues to work on saving food waste from commercial food stores, cafes, restaurants and local food producers by sharing it with those who need it most.
More volunteers and food donations are always welcome. If you would like to assist or know if someone who could benefit from the service, head to the website at feedmebellarine.com.au.
