Hot topics up for discussion at AGM

January 7, 2021 BY

The Victorian Electoral Commission declared the results for the borough - which includes Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale - this afternoon.

THE Point Lonsdale Civic Association is holding its Annual General Meeting on Friday this week, featuring two important guest speakers from the Borough of Queenscliffe.

Several important reports will be covered during the meeting, including the president’s report and the treasurer’s report.

Also on the agenda is a look at last year’s AGM and time set aside to address any matters that may have arisen from it.

Importantly, the meeting will include ballot election for the major roles in the civic association for 2021.

Borough of Queenscliffe chief Martin Gill will speak about the Borough Emergency Plan, with a focus on bushfires and the global pandemic.

Mayor Ross Ebbels will update the group on the four-year council plan and a 10-year community vision under the new Local Government Act.

Mr Ebbels will be seeking submissions from members on what they envisage for Point Lonsdale over the next four years and longer range over 10 years.

According to the Civic Society, one discussion point will be what they perceive as a high build-up of traffic in Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff in recent years.

The AGM will take place tomorrow night, January 8, at 7.30pm via an online Zoom conference call.
