THE Borough of Queenscliffe is inviting community groups and organisations to apply for funding to support projects that enhance health, involvement, and creativity in the community.

The Community Grants and Event Sponsorships are designed to boost local engagement and strengthen collaboration between the council and the community.

These programs support events, projects, and activities that connect and celebrate local residents.

Community-focused projects can receive grants of up to $2,000, with a total of $20,000 allocated for the 2024/25 Community Grants program.

Past recipients include diverse activities like knitting groups, choirs, an indigenous plant nursery, and water safety programs for children.

The grants aim to support community wellbeing through social connectedness, valuing volunteers, and assisting community groups to be sustainable and viable.

For events, sponsorship categories include local events up to $5,000 and minor events up to $10,000, with the same total budget allocation.

The Event Sponsorship program encourages and promotes unique events such as swims across the Rip, historical Flower Shows, and local theatre productions, enhancing the Borough’s vibrancy.

Applicants seeking major event funding over $10,000 can submit their applications year-round, subject to a six-month assessment period.

All major event applicants must prepare a presentation for council assessment.

Mayor Isabelle Tolhurst said this is an exciting time for the community.

“Council looks forward to receiving applications for this year’s round of Community Grants and Event Sponsorship funding, and our Economic Development team stands ready to support applicants through the process.”

“The Borough’s Community Grants Advisory Reference Group, responsible for reviewing applications and making recommendations regarding grant funding to council, is also looking for new volunteer representatives, so if you’re interested in joining the group, please submit an application through council’s website by April 30. Good luck.”

Interested parties should contact the Economic Development team at 5258 1377 before submitting their applications. The deadline for 2024 grant applications is 31 May.
