QUEENSCLIFF children’s charity Cottage by the Sea has been blown away by the community’s generosity at its annual Giving Day on Tuesday this week.

Cottage by the Sea chief executive officer Adam Wake said the charity’s team is extremely pleased with this year’s Giving Day result, raising more than $225,000 with all funds to go towards continuing its program.

“The biggest statistic that stands out to me for this year’s Giving Day was the fact we had 329 supporters and donors as part of the fundraising,” Mr Wake said.

“Over the past two years we’ve averaged about 230 donors, so that’s an additional nine people, and while it’s smaller donations, it’s more people donating and wanting to help despite the backdrop of the cost of living climate.

“I can’t thank the community enough.”

All funds raised from the day will go towards the operational costs of Cottage by the Sea’s programs, supporting and enhancing the lives of some of Victoria’s most disadvantaged children and families.

Cottage by the Sea’s campaigning was further bolstered by its celebrity ambassadors, providing messages of support in the lead-up to the Giving Day.

Ambassadors included Ian Cover, Joel Selwood, Rebecca Maddern, Curtis Stone, and Warren Davies.

“We understand Cottage by the Sea has a profound impact on children who take part in our program, once they arrive, the kids just scream with excitement,” Mr Wake said.

“Everyone here from our staff to our volunteers feels that positivity, and these programs are the best of its kind anywhere, and I say that without reservation.

“The funds we’ve raised from this year’s Giving Day will make a real and tangible difference and allow us to continue moving forward.”

He said Cottage by the Sea expected to deliver its programs to about 1,600 children this year.
