Ellie crowned champion at Gold Coast comp

BARWON Heads’ Ellie Harrison took out the blue ribbon 16 and under divisions at the 2019 Billabong Occy’s Grom Comp on the Gold Coast last week.

Ellie was crowned champion in the 16 and under girls division, defeating fellow Victorian Sage Goldsbury from Cape Woolamai by less than a point in the tricky final heat of the division.

She also won the 14 and under girls division, defeating Lilliana Bowery from Queensland in their final heat.

“It’s a pretty sick feeling,” Ellie said.

“The waves were pretty fun out there and having the 14s final was a great warm-up for the 16s final heat.

“I’m going to the SkullCandy Pro Junior after this event.

“This win means a lot because I’ve surfed in it so many times – it’s such a good event.”
