Full lineup for ReSound Music Festival announced

THE full lineup for next month’s ReSound Music Festival has been announced, with events set to take place in Geelong and the Bellarine over two Saturdays in June.

The free event is part of the Live & Local program, which supports homegrown musicians and small businesses by presenting music at various local venues.

ReSound Festival begins in Ocean Grove tomorrow (Saturday, June 1), with live music from 2-6pm at Blackman’s Brewery, Bookgrove, Driftwood Café, KALA, and The Piping Hot Chicken Shop.

Performers include Daisy Kilbourne, Ella Sweeney, Gabby Steel, Hassall, Jasper Jolley from Bones and Jones, Jem Pryse, Leah Senior, Mink Mila, Pollyman, Rach Brennan, Sarah Carroll, Sweethearts, Tilda Jarvis and Winksy.

Kelli Blackmore from Winksy shared her excitement about participating in the festival.

“Growing up in Geelong, Djilang, there was such a strong sense of community within the music scene – it felt like a hug,” she said.

“Being part of the inaugural Resound Festival is an absolute honour.

“I’ve dreamed of playing The Piping Hot Chicken Shop in Ocean Grove since I was a teenager. Such an epic local venue that has had incredible acts over the years. I can’t wait!”

The festivities continue on June 22, from 2-6pm, when central Geelong will host performances at Medusa, Murran – First Nations Hub, Lou’s Pizza and Wine, Pistol Pete’s Food n Blues, Popcultcha Records & Books, and The Hot Chicken Project.

The lineup features Bec Goring, Ella Sweeney, Emilia Fol, Daisy Kilbourne, Hassall, Jasmin Adria, Kee’ahn, Loud n Deadly, Lucy Lorenne, Nathan Seeckts, Parsnip, Rach Brennan, Rihanna Fibbins, Sid O’Neil, Summer de Vries, The Romantic Bastards and Wild Gloriosa.

Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan said audiences were in for a treat.

“Music is so ingrained in the culture and history of our region and we’re lucky to have such an eclectic blend of musicians wanting to showcase their talents here this June.

“ReSound is designed to shift your gaze and your ears to seek out the next wave of talented artists to join the ranks.

“Music fans from our region and beyond will have the opportunity to experience a diverse lineup, performing at unexpected and cosy small businesses.”

Cr Melissa Cadwell said the city was proud to present a free and inclusive festival that supports the live music and hospitality industries.

“Live music is a fundamental part of the Geelong region’s arts and culture scene.

“By being free, ReSound Festival will be accessible to a larger portion of the community and expose more people to these fantastic artists.”
