Rotary conference lands in Torquay
Held from Friday last week to Sunday, the event was hosted by the Rotary Club of Torquay and District Governor Lesley Shedden with more than 200 attendees from across the district heading along.

Throughout the event, keynote speakers delivered powerful messages, including domestic violence campaigner Rosie Batty, psychologist and author Dr Michael Carr-Gregg and End Polio ambassador Ramesh Ferris.
The conference started with a game of golf at 13th Beach Golf club before an official welcoming and social evening.
A full day of sessions followed on the Saturday, ending with a conference dinner, while Sunday morning kicked off with a walk promoting awareness to End Polio and Say No to Domestic Violence, kicking off the conference on Sunday.

Rotary 9780 District Conference committee chair Michael Reed said it was a great three days for attendees and organisers.
“The speakers were absolutely terrific and from all reports, everyone had a really good weekend which was pleasing to hear and rewarding for us,” he said.
“People are going to take away different things and different comments from different speakers but a lot of it is awareness as to what’s happening out there.”
Talks from guest speakers were also livestreamed, allowing those who couldn’t be there in person to get involved.
Friday and Saturday’s conference events were held at 13th Beach Golf Club, while The Sands hosted the group on Sunday.
