Lachlan Hockey slides into home to score in Bears A Grade win against Guild.

Lachlan Hockey pitched four innings in A-grade’s 4-2 win over Guild.

Hockey gave up just two runs with Pat Brackley doing a fine job pitching conceding no runs over the last three innings.

Offensively the standouts were Brock Wells with two hits and Lachlan Stott with one hit and an RBI, but it was Dan Stott with two hits, including a telling double in the third scoring two runs to seal the game for the Bears.

This leaves Bears a game clear from Saints at the top of the table.

A-reserve tied with Guild 4-4 after leading for most of the game.

Matt Sage again did a solid job on the mound pitching four innings with nine strikeouts and conceded only two runs.

Bears led 4-2 through the five with hits to Tayla Weldon, Brad Hockey and Cooper Tipping having his first hit and RBI in seniors.

Brad Hockey pitched the last inning for Bears but Guild showed a lot of desperation in their base running to post two runs and tie the game.

B-reserve played at Wallington but went down 7-2 against Saints.

The Bears struggled to get bat on ball with only four hits for the game – Matt Connell was a standout with three hits with Chris Dunn chipping in for one.

Saints were gifted 10 walks and by the time Matt Connell pitched the last two innings the damage was already done.

C-grade Blue held Lara to only two runs early with great defence from Mel Finnigan, including an outfield catch and double play with Chantelle Baker making a number of outs from third base.

Steph Stott with a good hit to left field and solid pitching by Heather Nicol and Phoebe Jakubzik, but Lara finished strongly winning 11-0.

C-grade Red lost a high scoring game in Ballarat 12-10.
