THE Celtic spirit was alive and well at the weekend when thousands of people converged on Portarlington to share music and laughter.

The National Celtic Festival showcased some of the world’s most culturally rich performers in concert, workshops, sessions and cross-disciplinary community art projects.

There were also theatre and spoken word events, competitions, forums, singing sessions, dances, gatherings, pipe bands, and markets for everyone to enjoy.

The program offered a diverse range of art forms, along with the many interpretations of Celtic and folk culture in the picturesque seaside setting.

And in a National Celtic Festival first, the festival welcomed the Australian Highland Cattle show.
