Tour de Cure to roll through Torquay, Geelong
ONE of Australia’s biggest charity cycling rides is heading this way, with the 2026 edition of the Tour de Cure Signature Tour to roll through Torquay and Geelong.
More than 200 riders and support crew hit the road yesterday (Thursday 12 March) for the nine-day cycling event aiming to raise $2 million for cancer research, support programs and prevention projects Australia-wide.
Over the course of the journey, riders will cover 1,400km and approximately 20,000m of elevation, cycling through regional towns and communities while raising awareness of cancer prevention and the importance of early detection
The tour will arrive in Geelong, from Ballarat, on Monday 16 March, travel to Torquay and back to Geelong on Tuesday 17 March, with Tour de France winner and Barwon Heads resident Cadel Evans joining in as an event ambassador. The tour will then leave Geelong for Devonport via the Spirit of Tasmania ferry.
Marking its 20th year in 2026, the Signature Tour has grown from humble beginnings into one of Australia’s most inspiring and impactful charity cycling events and Tour de Cure’s single biggest event fundraiser.
Tour de Cure has raised more than $158 million and funded more than 1,220 cancer research, prevention programs and support projects.
Sports broadcaster Mark Beretta is now on his 17th consecutive Signature Tour.
“I keep coming back because of the incredible work Tour de Cure is doing, funding research that I’ve seen first-hand change outcomes and save lives,” he said.
“The Tour de Cure family is a fantastic and supportive group focused on providing researchers with the money they need to push further in beating all forms of cancer. The support we receive from Australians, not just over the nine days of the ride, but year-round, is extraordinary.
“The cause means even more to me now having lost my father to cancer in September 2025, and my mum battling stage 4 ovarian cancer.”
Tour de Cure chief executive, David Mann, said the 20-year milestone was a testament to the passion and commitment of our community, riders, volunteers and supporters.
“Our Signature Tour is an extraordinary example of courage and purpose,” he said.
“At Tour de Cure, we are inspired by people who turn their personal cancer experience and ambitions into action that helps others.
“Every dollar raised will help fund vital cancer research, prevention and support programs.”
