Queenscliffe Visitor Information Centre volunteers Judy Compton, Cora Biggins, Jackie Taylor and Pat Theodore celebrate 15 years of volunteering.

FOUR Queenscliffe Visitor Information Centre volunteers have celebrated 15 years of service.

Judy Compton, Cora Biggins, Jackie Taylor and Pat Theodore each recently celebrated 15 years of volunteering with the Queenscliffe Visitor Information Centre, which Mayor Bob Merriman said was a fantastic achievement.

“This significant milestone is a testament to the quartet’s dedication to providing visitors to our town with local knowledge and information on attractions and things to see and do,” Cr Merriman said.

“With their collective local expertise, Judy, Cora, Jackie and Pat have provided countless visitors with invaluable hints and tips, helping tourists to get the most from staying in our region.”

After retiring to Point Lonsdale in 2000, grandmother of two, Judy became a volunteer in 2003.

Some of the things Judy most enjoys about being a volunteer at the Queenscliffe Visitor Information Centre is working with a wonderful group of like-minded people, their famils and regular nights out.

Cora grew up in Queenscliff and has been involved in a number of volunteering services including Barwon Health Andrew Love Cancer Centre. Cora retired from the Queenscliffe Visitor Information Centre in December 2018, after clocking up 15 years of service.

Jackie holidayed in Point Lonsdale from 1982 and moved to the area permanently when she retired 16 years ago.

A former journalist, Jackie has also been a Heritage Guide at the Queenscliffe Visitor Information Centre.

Pat volunteers regularly on a Sunday morning and loves interacting with visitors, helping to make their stay more enjoyable so that they will return in the future.

Pat is also the centre’s social coordinator and regularly organises monthly social gatherings to keep the team united.

The Visitor Information Centre is located at 55 Hesse Street, Queenscliff and is open from 9am until 5pm, every day except Christmas.
