NOW in its fourth year, Wine Geelong’s annual Winter Shiraz Weekend is set to warm-up wine lovers on July 6-7 with producers showcasing the very best of Geelong region Shiraz.

The much-anticipated weekend-long festival will see 28 wineries across the Moorabool Valley, Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula open their doors to offer highly-awarded Shiraz tastings plus plenty of other food-and-wine experiences, as the region basks in a midwinter glow.

Mt Duneed Estate is just one of the 28 producers taking part in the celebration, with marketing manager Christine Whelan and her team looking forward to welcoming patrons from far and wide to their venue.

“We love Winter Shiraz Weekend as it’s another great opportunity to showcase the region, and for us to celebrate all three of our Shiraz varieties, which we are very proud of,” Ms Whelan said.

“Our continuing passion and drive to put Geelong on the map through exceptional wine, amazing international concerts or milestone events is stronger than ever.

“We love our region and are excited for customers to explore the quality Geelong wine industry we have, and unforgettable experiences we offer.”

Each participating winery creates its own individual program for the weekend, guaranteeing an unparalleled experience at each venue.

The 2019 program promises to be the best yet with an exciting schedule of Shiraz tastings matched with hearty winter fare by talented local chefs, opportunities to ‘meet the makers’, special masterclasses and other wine experiences, gourmet produce and feasting, plus plenty of live entertainment surrounding the warmth of open fires and outdoor braziers.

In addition to winery experiences across the weekend, a special Friday Night Showcase will see popular Geelong venues Bottles and Barrels, Union Street Wine Bar and Barwon Heads Wine Store offering free tastings of over a dozen award winning local Shiraz producers.

Head to wintershiraz.com.au for further details and to download the entire event program. Entry is free so patrons can spend their money on experiences and take-home wine, and with something for everyone on offer, children are very welcome to attend.
