Project wheels are in motion

New commercial and recreational facilities are coming to Armstrong.

Wheels are turning as several important projects prepare to come on line, bringing new commercial and recreational facilities at Armstrong.

Key among these is a $60 million Armstrong Creek Town Centre along the Surf Coast Highway opposite the Armstrong land sales office. This will feature a major Coles supermarket and 25 specialty shops and cafés and restaurants in its first stage. Expectations are that it could be open for business within 18 months.

First thing next year will see the opening of the Armstrong West Primary School opposite Club Armstrong on Unity Drive. This will mark the start of a central and readily-accessible educational precinct with a high school to follow. This dovetails neatly with the valuable sport/recreational asset of Armstrong Oval next door.

Also pegged to start construction in the new financial year is the centrally located Neighbourhood Activity Centre adjoining the Bunjil’s Nest adventure park. This is planned to include medical facilities, supermarket, a public swimming pool and specialist stores.

Further wetland rehabilitation works along Armstrong Creek are soon to start at Armstrong’s green hideaway, Sanctuary, off Burvilles Road, providing further natural recreation opportunities in this gem of a bush precinct.

Meanwhile, a 3D walk-through tour of Club Armstrong is being prepared showcasing its pools, gym, courts, café, family retreat, function areas and playground. More details when the link is ready.

Later this month will see the official launch of Armstrong’s groundbreaking all-abilities display house on Unity Drive, a special three-way collaboration between genU, Burbank and Villawood that’s bringing housing for people with a disability into the mainstream.

Armstrong’s popularity continues apace, too, as we see a special release of centrally-positioned townhouses snapped up by the market. Likewise, care workers continue to take up special discount offers aimed at helping them into the market and bolstering valuable community assets at Armstrong.
