ONLY three teams remain in the Bellarine Football League after a five goal to one fourth quarter by Drysdale brought Modewarre’s season to a close, as the Hawks defeated the Warriors 10.12.72 to 4.7.31.

The Hawks kept Modewarre goalless in the first quarter, but 1.4.10 did not do Drysdale any favours as the Warriors’ three goals in the second term handed Chris Hickey’s men a 22-18 haf-time advantage.

Drysdale kicked three consecutive goals in the penultimate quarter to obtain a three-goal advantage heading into the fourth, before Ben Carmichael’s side blew open the doors for a 41-point win.

Hawks’ frontman James Breust kicked a game-high four goals, while Tom Ruggles was back to his usual best with three majors.

Flinn Chisholm, Ben Fennell and Mat Hebbard all contributed on the scoreboard as well.

Modewarre’s Connor Joseph was the only multiple goal-kicker, as only a pair of goals was added to his efforts thanks to Josh Finch and Tom Hornsey.

Drysdale now get its chance at redemption against Barwon Heads, whom they lost to 110-96 in the first elimination final, next Saturday (August 27) in the Preliminary Final as finals action transfers over to Newcomb Power’s Grinter Reserve.

The winner of that contest will face Torquay in the Grand Final.
