NORTH Shore will host Newtown & Chilwell under lights at Windsor Park on the eve of Anzac Day.

The clash will double as the club’s season launch and the public unveiling of stage one of its redeveloped facilities.

An Anzac ceremony led by the Norlane RSL will be held between the reserves and senior matches.

Club vice-president and netball president Edwina Wilkens said the night carried added significance.

“A lot of work that has gone into this,” she said.

“We wanted to respect the Saturday and the day in itself, so it’s a great way to bring everyone together and just sort of remember what it’s all about.”

The upgrades include new female-friendly infrastructure and an alfresco terrace overlooking the oval.

“It’s just taken the club rooms to a level I didn’t actually think was possible,” Wilkens said.

“Instead of there being windows and just one entrance and exit, we now have glass folding doors.

“For the warmer games, we’ll be able to open those up and we’re also looking at getting some heaters as well for the colder games.”

Wilkens said there was growing momentum across both football and netball at North Shore, with an extra senior netball side and the return of an under-18 football program.

Wilkens added that she felt North Shore were heading in the right direction, with the clash against a powerhouse like the Eagles in a key slot exciting for the club.

“It’s nice that we can all come together and go in against Newtown head on. It feels like the momentum is building, which is really nice,” Wilkens said.

“We’re definitely up for the challenge.”

B-grade netball starts at 6:35pm, followed by the senior football clash at 8.20pm.
