TORQUAY has reaffirmed the notion they are the team to beat in the Bellarine Football League, thumping Barwon Heads 19.11.125 to 7.8.50 and booking a ticket to the Grand Final in two weeks’ time.

The Seagulls were riding a wave of momentum into the second qualifying final today (Saturday, August 20), but that was quickly quashed on the back of a six-goal opening term from Dom Gleeson’s men.

Nine majors to one in the second half quickly sealed the win for the Tigers in Portarlington.

Callum Currie was the obvious standout for Torquay with eight goals under his belt, backed up by three goals each from Lucas Anderson and Paul McMahon.

The Tigers did a good job of limiting key Gulls frontman Nathan Brown, as the Team of the Season selectee was only able to manage a pair of goals.

Dylan Holland led the way for Barwon Beads with three goals next to his name.

Torquay’s spot is cemented at Grinter Reserve, giving them a two-week rest, while Barwon Heads will face the winner of the semi-final tomorrow (Sunday, August 21) between Drysdale and Modewarre.
