GREATER Bendigo residents are invited to celebrate the achievements of young people aged between 12 and 25 who work, live and study in the region by nominating them for a City of Greater Bendigo Youth Award.

The six award categories are creativity and innovation, contribution to the community, excellence in leadership, teamwork and collaboration, sustainability and environment, and inclusion and equity.

Nominees may also be considered as part of the 2027 City of Greater Bendigo Young Citizen of the Year award.

Greater Bendigo mayor Cr Thomas Prince said the awards program recognises the everyday contributions of local youths that often go unnoticed.

“We have brilliant young people in Greater Bendigo who use their skills and talent to make Greater Bendigo a better place,” he said.

“Nominating a young person for the awards not only showcases their efforts, it also inspires others.

“Young people are the leaders of tomorrow, but we know that many are already leaders today, so if you know a young person who should be acknowledged please consider nominating them.”

Youth mayor Alyssa Beaton said the actions and efforts of young people across Greater Bendigo are truly invaluable.

“Having a chance to express our gratitude whilst sharing these stories is such an uplifting opportunity,” she said. “Youth Awards offer a platform to show our appreciation and celebrate the phenomenal things young people are doing for our community.”

Last year’s winners included Bendigo youth councillor Ava Parker in the sustainability and environment ages 18 to 25 category and 2026 Young Citizen of the Year Phannika Finnerty in the ages 12 to 17 contribution to community category.

Nominations can be made on the Yo Bendigo website before 5pm, Tuesday 15 September.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at The All Seasons in Strathdale on Friday 20 November.
