ANGLICARE Victoria is offering support by helping bill payers get the best energy deals they can.

The organisation has partnered with the Victorian Government to provide free personal assistance through the Energy Assistance Program.

An estimated one in seven Victorians eligible for an energy concession are not yet getting one.

Chief executive officer of Anglicare Victoria, Paul MacDonald, said all it takes is a phone call to see if you can get more bang for your buck.

“Call Anglicare Victoria and our staff can help you understand your energy bills and get the cheapest deal, as well as apply for concessions you might not even know about,” he said.

“The Energy Assistance Program has already helped put nearly one million bucks back in the pockets of over 7000 Victorians.

“It’s such an expensive time of year and any money people save on their power bills is money they can spend on their family this summer.”

Ninety-one-year-old Isobel was able to access an energy concession through Anglicare.

“I called for support and the Energy Assistance Program was recommended to me. I didn’t know anything about it, I don’t think enough people do,” she said.

“The consultant helped me so much, she was so kind.

“She did the business side of things, rang up my electricity and gas providers, checked to make sure I was on the best deal, and I reaped the benefits.”

Anglicare Victoria can be reached on 1800 531 741 from 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday.
