DESPITE all the restrictions and problems brought about by the COVID pandemic, the Bendigo Gliding Club has emerged stronger than ever and activities are really taking off.

From June 2019 through to February 2021 membership rose from 36 to 49 and the club purchased land for an east-west runway.

That new touch-down and take-off track will be in addition to the north-south runway already owned by the club.

Planning has also been completed for a new hangar to house more gliders wile work to create an onsite maintenance workshop is also forging ahead, as are plans to construct new toilets.

Naturally all of this did not just happen by itself.

The committee and club members have put in a mountain of work and done a fantastic job, and everything seems to be heading in the right direction, with many more projects still waiting to be started.

Gliding is a great way to get into aviation, and Bendigo Gliding Club has many members from Bendigo as well as from outside the area.

The club is located near Raywood and are always keen to give locals the opportunity to soar in the skies of Central Victoria.

Anyone interested in learning to fly, taking a passenger ride or just wanting to see how a gliding operation is carried out is welcome at the club.
