STAFF, students, and a local arts collective have come together at Strathfieldsaye Primary School recently to create art with heart.

Last week, the school community was joined by Narcho Station to paint a large mural that both celebrated the Strathfieldsaye PS’ values, and remember teacher Jess West who passed away three years ago.

“The vibrancy of the colours represent Jess’ bright, bubbly personality which was often matched by her vivid hair colours and styles,” said principal Cindi Bruechert.

“While the images chosen represent our school values of caring, optimism, respect and excellence.”

Pained on the side of the school’s grade 2 building, the team from Narcho Station were joined by grade 6s in bringing the work to life.

“This mural is all about people. We’re thrilled to include some of our students in the creative process,” Ms Bruechert said.

“Funds raised from our recent Community Arts Festival have brought this project to life for students, their families, our community and staff to enjoy for many years to come.”
