ADVERTISING company Gawk Outdoor has switched on the power at Bendigo’s largest digital billboard.

Located at the south-east corner of the intersection of Mitchell and Queen streets, the sign is the 10 operated by Gawk in the town.

“It’s been a long process from site selection, to approval, to getting it built,” said company director James Course.

“But we took the view that selecting such a landmark site would mean it takes time to get the design right and to get it operational.

“The result is a billboard that sits in the heart of the city and is one of the most eye-catching sites we have in the network.

“A rhetoric that’s been shared by the locals who love the spot and have snapped up the advertising space.”

The sign carries messages from 10 advertisers at a time on a 30 second rotation.

A statement issued by Gawk Outdoor said booking on the digital billboard were strong, with 70 per cent of the slots sold before the sign was switched on in mid-December.

Early adopters of the sign include national brands like Zambrero, Snooze, McDonald’s and aged care provider Arcare, while local users are currently Bendigo TAFE and Bendigo Property Maintenance.

Gawk Outdoor operates more than 80 static and digital billboard locations across regional Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.
