The new registrars are fully qualified medical professionals who have chosen to specialise in general practice.
They will work alongside and under the supervision of experienced GPs, gaining hands-on experience in delivering comprehensive patient care.
Under the guidance of Dr Sheriden Emonson, BPCC’s teaching and training lead, the registrars will provide a broad range of essential healthcare services including chronic disease management, preventive health, mental health support, and women’s and children’s health.
“These doctors bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm, and we’re proud to support them as they develop their skills in general practice,” Dr Emonson said.
“By choosing to see a GP registrar, patients not only receive high-quality care but also play a crucial role in training the next generation of doctors for regional Victoria.”
Centre general manager Callum Wright said the facility’s role in fostering a new breed of GPs is making a real impact.
“We’re delighted to welcome this new cohort of registrars to BPCC,” Mr Wright said.
“The fact that six of last year’s seven registrars have remained in regional practice shows the success of our training model. These doctors are critical to ensuring regional communities continue to have access to high-quality healthcare, now and into the future.”
The Bendigo Primary Care Centre can be found at 123 Arnold Street and is open from 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
