NOMINATIONS for a scholarship and an award by the Zonta Club of Bendigo are now able to be submitted.

The club is offering the $750 Ann Horrocks STEM Scholarship for a woman enrolled in a STEM university course this year.

Any woman who has completed Year 12 or the equivalent at TAFE over the past five years is eligible for the Ann Horrocks scholarship, and the winner may also be up for a $5000 USD Zonta International award in the second year of study.

The 2024 Women of Achievement Award is for a person without a professional career whose contribution has had a positive impact on their community.

Last year, two women were selected for the Women of Achievement Award: the manager of Eaglehawk and Kangaroo Flat community houses Tracey Moss, and Amanda Logie who manages Rochester Community House.

Ms Logie played a big role in the preparation and recovery efforts when major flooding hit Rochester in 2022, and Ms Moss received it for her leadership in bringing communities together through various programs and activities and for securing funding.

Applications for both the scholarship and award are open until 23 February, and the winners will be announced and presented with their prizes at the annual Zonta International Women’s Day dinner on Tuesday 5 March.
