AFL legend Greg Williams will be part of the panel to provide insights and tips at the Carlton Football Club coaches forum in Bendigo on Tuesday, 13 February.

Now a football director at the Blues, Williams will join assistant coaches Aaron Hamill and Tim Clarke for the free event.

Coaches from across central and northern Victoria will gather in the McKay Lecture Theatre at La Trobe University Bendigo.

For Williams, aka Diesel, it’s a return to a city where he grew up and first played footy with Golden Square.

A dual Brownlow medallist, Williams made his then-VFL debut with Geelong in 1984 and later went on to play for Sydney Swans and Carlton.

A 250-game career for the brilliant centreman included Brownlow wins in 1986 and 1994, a premiership and Norm Smith medal with Carlton in 1995.

The 1995 triumph was the 16th in the Blues history.

Carlton will be aiming to build on the momentum of last year’s run to the preliminary final.

Selected in the AFL Team of the Century, Williams was inducted to the Bendigo Sports Star of the Year Basil Ashman Hall of Fame in 2000-01.

He was a dual winner of the Michelsen Medal as fairest and best in the Bendigo FNL in 1982 and 1983.

It’s a big week for footy fans in Bendigo as North Melbourne’s community camp will be on12 and 13 February 12-13, and Carlton on 13 and 14 February.

Throughout the three days there will training sessions, school and community visits.
