A BIG year of motocross action for Bendigo teenager Levi Nancarrow rolls on in Portland this weekend.

The 13-year-old will race in the 85BW class in Sunday’s opening round of the Peter Stevens Junior Victorian Championships.

The three-round series includes racing on the Winton track on 10-11 May and the Goulburn Valley Junior Motocross Circuit on 7-8 June.

Levi will also contest the Western Regions MX Championships in Horsham on 5 April and Heywood on 17 May.

There’s also the Northern Regions Championships on the racing calendar, as well as the Bendigo Motorcycle Club meets on 13 April and 27 July in Ravenswood.

Levi will also show his skills on the Toolleen circuit on 26 April and 20 July.

There have been plenty of thrills and some spills in Levi’s racing career.

In March, he raced in the MX amateurs in Horsham.

Although he was against older rivals on bikes with more power, Levi put in a great effort in the 85BW class as his team finished the competition in second place.

Day two at Horsham was the traditional motocross classes, in which Levi was in 85BW C-class.

The A, B and C classes raced at the same time.

A muddy track meant Levi missed a gear change and crashed on one of the biggest jumps on the course, which he had cleared successfully several times.

Cleared of injury, Levi was able to continue racing after some hasty repairs to his bike.

Racing as the temperature hit the mid-30s added to the challenge.

Levi’s courage and skill was to the fore as he finished in third place in his class.

Many hours of training on the track and building up strength are all part of Levi’s drive to be the best motocross racer he can be.
