Team appoints a GM with spirit
BASKETBALL club Bendigo Spirit has employed a new general manager in Daniel Jackson to begin mid-May.
Mr Jackson comes to the team with experience in sports operations, having just been the GM of the NBL1’s Launceston Tornadoes, and as a former professional basketball player.
“I am truly honoured to become a part of the Bendigo basketball community and take on the role of general manager with this great club,” he said.
“Bendigo has a fantastic basketball culture across all levels, and I’m excited to immerse myself in this community.
“Our goal is to build a highly competitive team for the upcoming season that the entire community can rally behind and I can’t wait to get started and contribute to the ongoing success of the Spirit, both on and off the court.”
Jackson played in the National Basketball League between 2007 and 2013 for Wollongong Hawks, and in the South East Australian Basketball League for a further three years with Canberra Gunners.
He has worked as the head of competitions and game development, and as the executive manager of group operations at Basketball ACT, and in operations for the WNBL’s Canberra Capitals.
“We are delighted to welcome Dan to the Bendigo Spirit family,” said CEO of SEN Teams, Richard Simkiss.
“His extensive experience as a player and administrator, particularly in the WNBL, makes him the perfect fit for our club as we continue to grow and strive for our third championship.”
Bendigo Spirit and owner Sports Entertainment Network thanked outgoing GM David Ingham for his contribution.
