Top teams clash at Castlemaine
A MATCH between top teams Castlemaine and Golden Square on Saturday night highlights this weekend’s start to round four in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy season.
The Magpies and Bulldogs put their unbeaten status on the line as they meet at Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve at 5pm.
Fans could witness a high-scoring contest. In pursuit of a premiership hat-trick, Castlemaine has started the season with goal tallies of 22, 20 and 19.
The Jordan Cochrane-coached Magpies have many goalkicking options.
It’s been a strong start by the Nathan Manuel-coached Golden Square which scored 25 goals in last Sunday’s match on North Bendigo’s turf at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street.
Round four will be completed on Sunday when all matches start at 1pm.
Marong is up against Bendigo Thunder in the Panthers’ den at Marong’s Malone Park.
North Bendigo is back on home turf in Atkins Street to face an Eaglehawk team which has a one-one record.
Big test for White Hills on its ground at Scott Street against last season’s runner-up, Woorinen. Sandhurst has the bye.
Round four in the under-18 girls competition starts at 9am on Saturday when Castlemaine plays Golden Square at Camp Reserve.
The ladder-leading Golden Square has two wins from as many starts.
In Sunday’s action, Strathfieldsaye is up against Eaglehawk from 10.30am at Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.
White Hills and Woorinen clash from 11.15am as second takes on fifth at the Demons’ den in Scott Street. Sandhurst has the bye.
