Police hunt driver after KFC Ballina hit and run

Police are searching for the driver of a dark coloured utility after an alleged hit and run outside KFC Ballina left a woman with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called after a 53 year old woman was allegedly struck by a vehicle in the car park of the shopping centre on Kerr Street.

The incident is believed to have occurred near the front entrance of KFC about 6pm on Saturday 2 May.

“The injured woman, aged 53, left the location and was later treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics in Wardell a short time later,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.

“She was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for the treatment of serious injuries.”

Police were notified of the alleged hit and run on Tuesday 5 May and inquiries are continuing.

The woman reportedly suffered broken ribs, a fractured sternum, internal bleeding and abrasions.

A family member thanked a member of the public who stopped to assist the woman and contacted emergency services following the incident.

Investigators are seeking to identify the driver of a dark coloured utility believed to have been in the area at the time.
